Classical Academic Art classes help develop student's ability to use problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.  We treat art as a business and strive to develop skills and a portfolio that students can use in contests, school projects, family gifts, or as a small business.  Children ages 7-12 are taught Classical Academic Art techniques and procedures.  Students begin working on painting techniques used for portraits.    Students schedule their classes during normal studio hours to fit their own schedule.  Times and days can vary from week to week, or stay the same.   2 hr. classes are scheduled each week for 6 weeks.  Students can come Wed. between 5:30-8:00 or Sat. between 1-4pm.   To sign up, send an email to rmyers2000@aol.com  $200 for 12 hours in the studio must be used in 6 weeks.  $250 for 16 hours in the studio and must be used in 8 weeks unless prior arraingements are made, such as a trip or illness.  Makeup classes are available.  Just email me if you want to pay by credit card and I can send you an invoice.  I supply everything they need for their first painting, then after that they just need to bring their own canvases. (8x10, 11x14 are best sizes.).  Students can also purchase our Tinted-Gesso for $100 to use at home to complete their underpaintings between classes.

7-12 yr. olds are capable of spending longer hours on more complicated paintings.  We do one tight Classical Academic painting, then one loose or cheezy painting.

All paintings incorporate at least 5 of the 8 objectives to creating significant art.  Color Harmony is stressed as well as creating a likeness of the object being painted.
